You should see here how bid retraction has been used to expose the high bid of the genuine buyer, the first example from bidder n***u could have been just an error, the second example from the suspect shill bidder was obviously a mistake made in haste.
You will notice how in both cases the top bidder’s bid was reduced back to the value placed just before the withdrawn bid, the subsequent and intermediate bids being nullified.
Both these cases are however against the eBay rules in that no further valid bid was made.
An extract from the relevant rules:
You are only permitted to retract your bid under the
following special circumstances:
[the relevent clause here is]
You entered the wrong amount
you should place a bid for the correct amount shortly after you retract your bid)
eBay Note:
Your seller may object to the reason you gave for retracting the bid:
Eg you retracted a bid because you entered the wrong amount.
However, you didn’t place a new bid with the correct amount.
The seller may report that your retraction reason is invalid.
eBay Advice:
Misuse of the bid retraction option to manipulate the bidding process is not permitted.
This includes any manipulation of the bidding process to discover the maximum bid of
the current high bidder or to uncover the reserve price.
I am currently myself, incredibly, both researching how to repair two counterfeit 32GB flash memory cards I purchased on ebay – which I must say, were fully refunded by the sellers.

Amazing thing this internet, that you should find the “pope” links which led you here. I am pleased you were refunded for the fake flash, you should, if you already didn’t know, visit sosfakeflash where you will find links to blogs dealing with restoring fake flash chips to their real capacity. Good luck!
The other interesting comments were of course not relevant to the main purpose of this blog, hence I removed them, however I did read them, though you do make some rather strong points about the monarchy and their leanings, I am sure what you say contains some truth, specially the Tasmanian information, I being a reasonably frequent visitor to the Apple Isle, have observed what I can only consider as being a potential conspiracy, as a visitor it is best to observe and learn, rather than comment openly, else my next visa might not be approved.
